The department maintains a laboratory of PC hardware, currently
located in room 206B. It contains 6 Windows NT workstations, which are available for use by people within the department only and require a JURAI domain login (id and password) to use. (If you do not have a JURAI login, you can come see Alex Hemsath (x2522, currently in 206A) and he will get you set up. Even if you don't intend to use the public NT workstations you should probably get a JURAI login anyway as this will make printing access easier.) These workstations have a variety of software, including but not limited to: Office, ArcView GIS, Matlab, SigmaPlot, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/PageMaker, Corel Draw/PhotoPaint, Deneba Canvas. Not all workstations have every package. Consult the lists posted on the wall near the workstations. The lab also contains several printers
Provision for personal PCs (and their software) in offices is at your own discretion (or your advisor's, if you are a student). Except in certain cases, hardware and software support for Rice-owned PCs outside the student lab is done by Rice IT. Send e-mail to problem@rice.edu and the appropriate person will be notified. Questions? Comments? Please contact Alex Hemsath.
